Have you ever heard of the acronym HALT?
The first time I heard this was in 12 step program material. It stands for:
• H-hungry • A-angry • L-lonely • T-tired
Early in my path to recovery from Codependency I learned this very effective tool. Whenever I am feeling one of these things it is imperative to just STOP. During these times it is best to refrain from making any decisions or taking action. I may need to just call a friend, regroup or do something different than I am doing at the moment. It is time to put a different thought in my head or just lie down and take a nap.
I am so much more effective in exhibiting LOVE when I am nourished, peaceful, connected and energized.
Can you think of a time that you would have created a more effective outcome by just STOPPING?
