Dead Sea Known in the bible as the “Salt Sea” of the “Sea of the Arabah” there is nothing living in this sea because of its high mineral content. There are other biblical names for this Sea. The most important role was a barrier, blocking traffic to Judah from the east. See 2 Chronicles 20. The lowest point of dry land on earth is the shoreline of the Dead Sea at 1,300 feet below sea level. Because the lake is at the lowest point on earth, water dows not drain from the lake. 7 million tons of water evaporate daily, but the minerals remain, causing the salt content to increase. In one of the photos below we are just floating (you cannot sink), the other shows the mud and in the right hand of my friend you will see a salt crystal that was found laying on the Sea’s floor.
