Is mourning healthy?
I was reading my study in Acts this week and they brought up mourning. Scripture says in Ecclesiastes that there is a time for everything. I have experienced times were I try so hard to bypass this step but later when a thought or a memory comes up I feel pain, frustration and bitterness. When I was reading the study it mentioned that we can get stuck in the mourning process to where it holds us back from Serving God. This made so much sense as there are things that have happened in the past that I wish I could experience again and relive but the fact is that the past is the past. I can learn and grow from the past; I can also reminisce and be sad at times (when we lose a loved one the emptiness may never go away) but we can gain hope through the Love of Christ. This is all healthy.
Where it becomes ineffective to living Gods plan out is when I get stuck in that area. The best example is driving a car, think about you driving a car and you are so obsessed with what is behind you and all you do is look in the rear view mirror. More than likely you will end up in a wreck. The same is true if you look far into the distance but don’t focus on what is right in front of you.
All three areas are important but the most is what is immediately in front of you “Here and nowâ€. We can have a more successful life if we glance in the rear view mirror, glance at what’s in front- but stay focused on the “Here and Now.â€
Where in your life are you focused most of the time?
